I showed up to have a new clutch installed, I had used Dave before to change out ever fluid on my vehicle. My sister in-law also used him. I even drove down there passing by hundreds of other mechanics on my way from Monument. I like to use good small shops, they tend to want to keep their customers...I was so wrong with Dave. The clutch alone cost me $600, Dave's labor was another $650. I was okay with that. What I was not okay with was the terrible service. I was told the vehicle would be done at 2pm. I cut my hike early and come back at 1:30pm. I sit and wait, I'm there till 11pm at night because his mechanic botched the job and had to take everything back off. Dave never offered to give me a ride although he claims in his emails to me he did. They did stay open but I wasted so much time waiting. I figured okay at least the issue was caught now and not on my trip to TN.

So I leave to go to TN. Come back a week later as the car was having issues shifting. I was considering taking it in to have him look at it when I was locked out of my gears leaving me in 3rd. I was able to limp the vehicle into Dave's garage. He claimed all worked fine but he fixed a loose connection by replacing a defective Ford part made cheap by Ford (pointing finger at Ford).

So I leave it seems to work, a week later (I don't drive much) it starts up again this time I totally can not shift gears...the clutch smokes as I limp it up to my house. I call Dave he says bring it in but he won't pay for towing. So I called AAA and they towed it for me. This time I mention a rattle and obviously the shifting. He claims the shifting is fine...huh me and the tow guy are lying...they winched it onto the flatbed as it could not be shifted into any gear.

Dave claimed he replaces the part. Not true a look under the hood a few days later, and it was just put back into the bracket but the knob type plastic was broke. He also claimed he fixed the rattle which is true he just took a .2 sheet metal screw and screwed the exhaust heat shield down...but he acts like this was a bike fix *roll my eyes*. So I invite the brother in-law over who is an FAA mechanic and he says it looks like Dave used vice-grips on a plastic part. Once we got the new part from Ford for $120 (whole shift linkage) we could then see that the part was never meant to unscrew. It was meant to lightly twist under spring loaded pressure (to keep it closed) and lifted out of the bracket. It was clear they thought it twisted off and broke it. What I am more mad about is Dave claimed they replaced the $120 part. It looks like they investigated replacing it as the shift boot was off of my shifter and a screw in the cup holder, but they decided it was too hard. It was, it took a few hours of the brother in-law and I fishing the cable through the firewall to properly fix the issue. Now if Dave would of said look its a plastic part and it broke, its going to cost you $120 but we will get that installed for free...I would of said NO PROBLEM. Instead he claimed each time it was fixed or replaced...which is uncalled for. I asked Dave to honor his 100% satisfaction guarantee on his website and he said "no one ever asked for that before". I was told by a lawyer to sue him but decided the money was not the issue as much as the hassle, the tow, the false promises of fixing the issue. I did not even ask for 100% back, I asked for $300 which I calculated as my lost time, hassle, and the premature wear of a $600 clutch, not to mention breaking a $120 part due to their negligence. He flat out told me to sue him, that his warranty stood and he fixed the issue although I still have the part in my garage that is broken. He fails to understand what 100% satisfaction means...he has no disclaimers of what that means. If I wanted I can say the car smelled of farts and I want my money back, in court I would win. Lots of broken promises with Dave and Metric Motors. Seeing as the money don't mean too much to me...I'll just make sure to tell people how much they stink. So far I have told countless people.
