  Dr. Rebekah Martin is a phenomenal Physiatrist, a pain specialist. I went to her for the first time today, and wish I'd gone to her last fall instead of another physiatrist. I was so very impressed with her. She works independently, not "owned" by any of the large hospital networks. She gave me her undivided attention and as much time as I needed, went over all my tests, treatments, and drugs that have worked and not worked up to this point. She carefully explained what she identified as two problems I have, and provided me with options.
  
  I have been given band-aid treatments for several years (drugs, injections, PT, MRIs, many specialists). Dr. Martin said I was a classic case that would benefit from L4-L5 stenosis surgery, that I needed to stop being shuffled from one doctor to the next, and referred me to a choice of several neurosurgeons. If she didn't feel she could help me, she said she would not take me on as a patient. Her honesty and "getting to the point" were refreshing.
  
  She has given me hope, something I've not had for some time. And I now have a firm plan of action.
  
  When going to ANY doctor, go in prepared: list of current drugs, allergies and family history is standard. Obtain and take in copies of all tests and procedures. Be specific. I have a concise, running list of every doctor, the date, what was done, what was the result, and I provide a copy to my doctor. Because of this, Dr. Martin and any doctor will get the clearest snapshot of your health and be able to give you the most informed diagnosis possible.
  
  And communicate with your doctor after your treatment. I was appalled at some of the immediate complaints on Google Reviews. I truly believe most doctors, and especially Dr. Martin, want your treatment to be a success. Talk to her/them before posting a scathing report to see what else can be done; you've got nothing to lose. Be your own advocate, but also be a partner with your doctor. From my perspective, you are getting a top-notch doctor with Dr. Rebekah Martin, and I wish you well.
